Hartfell House is situated in a peaceful rural setting in a designated "Outstanding Conservation Area" on the edge of the town of Moffat. It overlooks the surrounding hills, yet is only a few minutes' walk from the attractive town centre. The building is of local stone, and is officially 'Listed' as being of architectural interest, dating from around 1850.
The house has eight spacious bedrooms, a mixture of single, double, twin and family rooms. Seven rooms have private toilet and shower facilities ensuite, and all are equipped with television, radio alarm, hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities. We also have a comfortable, spacious lounge for residents' use.
Breakfast is cooked to order and includes home-baked bread wholemeal, oatmeal, or farmhouse white bread, excellent coffee and a selection of teas. Also on offer are American-style muffins, fruit compote and our own special oatmeal with fruit and spices. We welcome vegetarians and people on a gluten-free diet. We cook with as little fat as possible and include reduced-fat ingredients when available. We believe that food should not only taste good, but be good for you, too.
Dinner is available by prior arrangement and we have a residential licence and a carefully-selected wine list.
Hartfell House is an excellent base for touring the local beauty-spots, and it is a favourite staging-post for motorists heading further north or south.

Please note that all advance reservations must be confirmed by either post or e-mail and a deposit of £ 10.00 per person should be sent before arrival. For our policy on returning deposits, please contact us. All cheques to be made payable to 'Hartfell House'. We can accept credit card details with your confirmation, but we do not take final payment by this method. Payment can be made in Pounds Sterling by :-
All evening meals should be booked in advance. Breakfast is served between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. Because of family commitments, we are currently unable to offer evening meals on request. However, we will make an exception for people who find it difficult to walk into the centre of Moffat. Dogs are allowed by prior arrangement. |

Moffat is about 43 miles north of Carlisle on the M6/M74. Take Junction 15, the exit for Beattock, Moffat and Selkirk, then follow the road under the Motorway taking the signs for Moffat, two miles east of the M74. You will arrive at the High Street (Town Square). Click on image below for map. |

Turn right beside the War Memorial and down beside the Clock Tower into Well Street. At the far end of Well Street go straight across into Old Well Road.
