As befits its history, Moffat has a good range of local events. Moffat Folk Festival : Moffat Fun Day - Last Sunday in May. Gala Week - Second Week in July : Held in the same week as the Glasgow Fair. Includes the crowning of the Gala Queen, the choosing of the Shepherd and his Lass and a procession. Classic Car Rally : 29rd - 30th June 2002. South of Scotland Tennis Championships : From the last Monday in July. At the Beechgrove Tennis Courts on Academy Road. Moffat Show : Last Saturday in August. Dates its ancestry back to the old 'Hiring Fairs' and livestock sales held in Moffat for many centuries. Moffat Walking Festival : 4 - 6 October 2002. The Lord Dowding Memorial Service : Sunday 8th September 2002 |
Held on the Sunday preceding 15th September. Church Service and wreath laying at the Dowding Memorial in Station Park. [Top] |
