The Knowe...A double-storey traditional sandstone house at the southern entrance to the town of Moffat, approximately one mile east of Junction 15 of the M74, and an easy 10-minute walk into the centre of town. Around the square (High Street) there is a wonderful selection of Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes, giving a wide choice for a relaxing Evening Meal. The Knowe offers a relaxing place from where to visit the many attractions of Southern Scotland. Special Diets...We cater for a wide variety of dietary requirements and understand how important these are for you. Breakfasts and packed lunches can be Diabetic, Gluten-Free, Low-Fat or Vegetarian, according to your tastes. Accommodation...The Knowe has a very large bedroom with a king sized bed, settee and colour television, with en-suite shower, washbasin and toilet facilities. Meals are served in the Dining Room. Visitors have access to the garden, which is large, pleasant and private. The house retains much of the original character, but has full central heating and offers comfort to our visitors. Refreshments are provided on arrival, normally consisting of a light afternoon tea. We aim to provide a friendly relaxed atmosphere, guests' most common remark being ''A home from home - without the work.''. We look forwards to giving you a warm welcome at The Knowe and to providing you with an excellent base from which to explore this beautiful area. ... And about Moffat...Moffat is an ideal base for touring the picturesque areas of Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders, in particular St. Mary's Loch and Burns country. Moffat has been enjoyed by visitors for many years and a warm and friendly welcome awaits our guests, both old and new. Attractions available locally include river fishing in the Annan and Moffat, loch trout fishing, pony trekking, a bowling green, tennis courts and a sports centre. Country walks of all kinds are available, whilst the Southern Upland Way's most scenic parts are near the town. For the golfer, the upland course at Moffat Golf Club offers visitors good playing and panoramic views. The tree-lined wide High Street of the former Spa Town has a good selection of speciality shops, pubs, hotels, restaurants, a garden centre and a museum. Station Park has a boating pond, putting greens and the 'Moffatasia' water play centre for children. All this set amongst the flowers that have made the town a frequent winner in Britain in Bloom competitions. |

Directions : Take Junction 15 from the M74 and follow signs for Moffat under the Motorway. After one mile, look for The Knowe at the right hand side of the road, before you reach the 30-mile limit signs. Click on the Map to the left for a larger sketch map of The Knowe in Moffat. |
