2 Stable Cottages is a self catering property set in the beautiful Auchencastle Estate just 2 miles from the lovely scenic town of Moffat. An ideal base for all the local amenities, which include fishing, hill walking, golf and a boating park. The Moffat Water is only seven miles from the house which is an ideal base for hill walking. Follow the Southern Upland Way from the village of Beattock to reach the Megget Dam and the beautiful scenery surrounding St. Mary’s Loch.

Stable Cottage and its Accommodation ...

The cottage was previously the stables for the now Auchencastle Hotel. The present owners have recently purchased the property and completely renovated it to a high standard. The accommodation consists of a large sitting room, a new fitted kitchen, bathroom, one double bedded and one twin bedded room. The sitting room has both a heater and a stove for cool evenings, a dining table and a comfortable suite. The bedrooms are furnished with new pine beds and built-in wardrobes.

The bathroom has a large bath and an electric shower.

The very well equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, fridge and tumble drier. All crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided. Many useful extras included.

All bed linen and towels are provided with the cottage. We will endeavour to provide any additional supplies, special requests or requirements. A welcome pack of groceries can be provided on request.

Auchencastle Hotel next door ...

The Auchencastle Hotel is just two minutes walk from the Cottage. If you wish, you can eat your meals there. You can sit and relax over a drink in the bar which overlooks the beautiful gardens.

Enjoy a friendly welcome in an atmosphere of tranquillity and peace.

Directions: Leave the M74 at Junction 15 and follow the signs for Auchencastle Hotel. (Clearly marked at the roundabout). Follow the road for approx 2 miles; turn 1st left, 1st right, past the hotel. Cottage is approximately 2 minutes past the hotel, on the right hand side. (Middle cottage No. 2).

Moffat and its Attractions ...

Moffat is an ideal base for touring the picturesque areas of Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders, in particular St. Mary's Loch and Burns country. Moffat has been enjoyed by visitors for many years and a warm and friendly welcome awaits our guests, both old and new.

Attractions available locally include river fishing in the Annan and Moffat, loch trout fishing, pony trekking, a bowling green, tennis courts and a sports centre. Country walks of all kinds are available, whilst the Southern Upland Way's most scenic parts are near the town. For the golfer, the upland course at Moffat Golf Club offers visitors good playing and panoramic views.

The tree-lined wide High Street of the former Spa Town has a good selection of speciality shops, pubs, hotels, restaurants, a garden centre and a museum. Station Park has a boating pond, putting greens and the 'Moffatasia' water play centre for children. All this set amongst the flowers that have made the town a frequent winner in Britain in Bloom competitions.

Cottage is approximately 2 minutes past the hotel, on the right hand side. (Middle cottage No. 2).
