Nith Valley Embroidery :

A Micro Enterprise Growth Assistance project.

Ian White of Nith Valley Embroidery located in the mining community of Sanquhar, started trading in 1986. The business employs one trainee student as well as Ian himself. Ian's range of commercial customers boasts Queen of the South Football Club and other domestic customers, who are provided with a diverse array of quality embriodered products. Ian's success can be attributed to his philosophy of 'quality first and foremost' as well as the obvious enthusiasm he has for the industry of which he is part.

A recent machinery breakdown gave Ian the opportunity of analysing the equipment he was using and he decided that an upgrade in his embroidery machine was needed to meet the demands of the business. After approaching Groundbase he was offered assistance under the MEGA programme to purchase the much-needed computerised embroidery machine and support equipment.

"The support I received from Groundbase was invaluable in ensuring that I not only stayed inm business but has enabled me to develop it through being able to pursue high-profile commercial work. I have plans for expansion into new market opportunities, which will see me employing further staff in the early part of 1999." - Ian White.
