Max Toys

Founded by Nance Weller and Mike Talmadge in April 1996, Max Toys produces a range of unique wooden toys. Their workshop at the Kelloholm Business Centre in the unemployment blackspot of Upper Nithsdale is every child's dream. Surrounded by toy forts, dolls' houses, aeroplanes and cars, Max Toys are building up a reputation for themselves.

A Mega grant of £ 850 assisted them with the purchase of an Optimate Woodworking Machine and other equipment to speed up production.

"We have attended a number of Trade Shows, and our products generated a lot of interest," said Nance. "That interest is now producing genuine enquiries and orders. We are grateful for the support we have received from Groundbase, and the new equipment will enable us to streamline the production process."

The picture below shows Nance Weller with a selection of wooden toys at the Kelloholm workshop.
