A series of events throughout the year from 17th April to 17th October in and around the town to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of being granted its Charter status as a Royal Burgh.
A celebration of Borders family history and heritage, feuding and thieving, in the land of the Border Reivers.
Sunday 9th August 11 a.m - 6 p.m. : The Barony College near Dumfries sees a kaleidoscope of Border Life past and present. Border music and ballads, Border sports, Fishing, Carriage Driving, Pipes and Drums, Re-enactment of Battles, Jousting and Swordplay, a Craft Village and Border Clan tents.
A collection of top quality artistes performing music, drama, visual arts, poetry readings, street theatre, jazz and folk sessions, and childrens' events. Includes artistes from Hungary, Russia, Australia and Tibet.
A community-based Arts Festival of theatre, music, literature, dance and visual art, set in the beautiful harbour town of Kirkcudbright, renowned for its tradition as an "Artists' Colony".
A range of period themed weekend fayres encompassing historical re-enactments, music and crafts, promoting the area's rich heritage. Held at the historic Old Buittle Tower near Dalbeattie.

Set in the pastoral glen of the Water of Deugh near Carsphairn, north of Castle Douglas, a natural amphitheatre provides the backdrop for a traditional Scottish Music Festival. It will feature at least six well-known professional bands, as well as local bands and performers, over the Summer Solstice Weekend.
The second year of this event, following the success of the 1997 Festival which attracted over 3,000 visitors. This year's expanded programme features top name country bands, as well as Street Fairs, Competitions, and Fun Events for all the family.
Organised by the Castle Douglas Youth Festival Group, "Coffee on the Lawn" features Abba Gold as the main attraction in a day of music and entertainment. The event runs from 2 p.m. - Midnight at the Meadow Park Stadium, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire.
