A.J. & T. Contractors is a new business started in 1997 by the husband and wife partnership of Tim and Amanda Eyres. Tim, a bricklayer by trade, specialises in 'hard landscaping'. This landscaping includes ornate driveways and surfaces, together with installation of their own manufactured gates and fencing. The strength of the business derives from the application of quality workmanship and the obvious pride taken in a job well done. The majority of Tim and Amanda's customers are the result of recommendations. The business supports four employees and is likely to employ further staff in the early part of 1999.
Seasonal effects on the industry mean tight controls are essential. To maintain control of costs and time involved in site moving and handling of products, additional specialist equipment was required.
After approaching Groundbase, assistance was provided under the MEGA programme to enable Tim anmd Amanda to purchase high technology moving/lifting equipment.
