Brian Carson and Neil Hutchinson

PRS Building Contractors, Palnackie :

Funded under the Micro Enterprise Growth Assistance programme (MEGA).

PRS Building Contractors, based at Palnackie, Castle Douglas, began offering local sawmill services in 1987, together with products such as pallets and sheds. The progressive business planning of partners Neil Hutchinson and Brian Carson developed the customer base, until in 1993 they were able to provide a building contracting service. The team at PRS pride themselves on the individual skills they have brought together to provide PRS Building Contractors' high quality of workmanship. The closure of the local 'Stelrad' plant at Dalbeattie provided the opportunity to employ 5 additional skilled tradesmen in support of the building contracting team.

Along with the expansion in business services and products came the requirement to expand and maintain the workshop and saw-mill facilities. Neil and Brian approached Groundbase with their building development plan and were awarded a grant under the MEGA programme to assist with the costs.

"The support from Groundbase has enabled us to implement our buiding expansion project to match the growing requiremnts of our business. Without the support from Groundbase we would have been unable to implement the project on the same scale, both financially and time-wise, which would have restricted our development." - Brian Carson.
