Crallan & Winstanley Architects :
The partnership of Crallan & Winstanley Architects was established in 1983 following an earlier association between John Crallan and Simon Winstanley at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow University. The business is based in Castle Douglas and currently has a team of 5 professional and secretarial staff supporting the partners.
Crallan & Winstanley offer an array of architectural services, including : Masterplanning, Feasibility Studies, Design & Build, Interior Design, House Inspections and Specialist Surveying and Inspections. The company is pleased to boast a client list that includes : Ayrshire & Arran Community Health Care NHS Trust, Barr Ltd., the Church of Scotland, Crichton Development Co. Ltd., Dumfries & Galloway Council, Dumfries & Galloway Enterprise and Robison & Davdson Ltd.
The business holds an obvious pride in the quality of work and service they offer, with the ultimate aim of producing design solutions that satisfy intended requirements, whilst enhancing the environment. with this in mind, the practice has won both regional and national awards with work being being published in the press and professional journals.
To ensure that they maintain the standard of quality and continuity in design output, they had a requirement to update their Computer Aided Design (CAD) facility, together with the installation of a computerised network system. After approaching Groundbase with their development project, assistance under the MEGABITE programme was awarded.
"With the updated computer facility we are able to produce sophisticated drafting outputs and share data and skills through the network system, which eliminates cost and improves performance in our project." - John Crallan.
