Ruth Winter was researching the craft sector to produce an Export Fact Pack as part of her work placement under the Shell Technology Enterprise Programme. Graham Platt and Clare Phillips were establishing contacts in the Arts, Craft and Cultural fields with a view to developing craft-sector opportunities and exchanges, and participation by local musicians in the 1999 Breton festivals. It is also hoped to encourage Breton musicians to participate in the GAELFORCE seasons of events across Dumfries & Galloway in 1999. GAELFORCE currently involves Scottish and Irish artistes but Groundbase are seeking to expand it to incorporate artistes from other Celtic areas across Europe.
