The Approach

East Culkae Farm House :

A warm welcome awaits you at East Culkae Farm House - set in its own 123 acre grounds with wonderful views over the Galloway Hills and within walking distance of Sorbie Village. The surrounding area - the Machars of Dumfries and Galloway - has many good walks and visitor attractions. East Culkae is particularly well located for those wanting variety in their holidays, as everything from the sea to the hills is within an hour's drive. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, adding to the delights of walking and bird-watching in this part of south west Scotland.

We have our own speciality Sheep Shop at 'From Ewe to You' for those who want an unusual souvenir of their stay.

The Hall

Bed & Breakfast at East Culkae :

East Culkae welcomes dogs by arrangement. Children are welcome. There is central heating throughout the house, all three bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, and a T.V. Lounge is provided for visitors. En-suite bathrooms in each bedroom have showers and shaving points. The Ground Floor Bedroom may be particularly convenient for visitors with mobility considerations. We are known for the excellence of our home cooked meals. Packed lunches can be provided by arrangement.

Local Attractions :

East Culkae is conveniently sited for those wishing to visit The Mull of Galloway, South Ayrshire, The Machars, Galloway Forest Park and Kirkcudbright & Gatehouse. The attractions near East Culkae are summarised below.

Golfing : Monreith (St. Medan's), Wigtown, Glenluce and Newton Stewart, are all a short drive away.

Fishing : Loch, sea and river fishing nearby.

Walking and Birdwatching
The South West of Scotland has beautiful unspoilt scenery, hillwalkers enjoying the Galloway Hills with its walks and Southern Uplands Way. The highest hill is the Merrick (843 metres). Hill-walking is also available at Glen Trool and in the Galloway Forest Park to the north.
Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve and Carsegowan Moss are only a short distance away. The coast of the Machars offers a variety of habitats for seabirds, whilst inland there is the RSPB Reserve at Wood of Cree and to the west the RSPB reserve in the Mull of Galloway.

How To Find Us :

From Newton Stewart roundabout on A75 near bridge, take A714 south to Wigtown, bypassing Wigtown on the B7005 to Bladnoch. Go through Kirkinner on the A714 then take the A746 for Whithorn, going through Sorbie Village. Half a mile south of Sorbie turn right for Ravenstone, East Culkae being to the immediate right.

Booking Your Holiday :

To obtain further details of how to book and to obtain conditions of letting, please write to Mrs. M. McMuldroch or phone 01988-850214.
Once a Booking has been made, - by telephone, or by e-mail, - a letter of confirmation and a 10 % deposit must be sent. The deposit is not refundable in the event of cancellation. The balance can be paid at any time during your stay at East Culkae.
