Glengennet was built in the 1890's by the Brown family as a shooting lodge in the Upper Stinchar valley near the conservation village of Barr, 7 miles from Girvan. It is a fine stone-built house retaining many original features and provides an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday in South West Scotland. Now a 500 acre farm rearing Scottish Blackface sheep and beef cattle, Glengennet is set in an elevated position with panoramic views over open countryside towards the Galloway Forest Park. |
||
Twin and double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, in former shooting lodge, set in peaceful, unspoilt countryside overlooking the Galloway Forest Park. Guests' bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Each room has en-suite facilities, easy chairs, tea/coffee making facilities and heating. The lounge/dining room overlooks the garden and has TV. Leaflets, guides and maps, are available to help guests plan their day. Breakfast is the only meal served, but there is a choice of menu with excellent preserves. Packed lunches and sandwiches are available on request. Barr village (1¼ miles away) has two small hotels where good reasonably priced meals are available. |
