Description :

Craigadam is an elegant country house within a working farm. Antiques, log fires and luxury bedrooms are part of its relaxed atmosphere. Meals are enjoyed in our oak-panelled dining room, where guests may eat together around our magnificent oak table in a 'house-party' atmosphere. The self catering accommodation is in a large three-bedroom cottage.

Self-catering holidays at Craigadam offer a wide choice of entertainment. The Craigadam Estate offers birdwatching and sporting holidays, whilst there is excellent fishing and many fine golf-courses within twenty miles.

Self-Catering Accommodation :

The self-catering cottage has three twin bedrooms, all en-suite, individually decorated to a theme - African, Florentine, and Scottish. The cottage has a comfortable sitting/dining room with French windows and a lovely view of the orchard. The luxury fitted kitchen has all-modern appliances. Visitors can choose to come for a meal or make use of other facilities, or cater for themselves in one of the most pleasant homes-from-home in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Cottage offers excellent value at £ 450 per week and is available any week of the year.

Local Attractions :

Craigadam is conveniently sited for those wishing to visit Galloway Forest Park, the areas near Gatehouse and Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie and The Machars in Dumfries and Galloway. South Ayrshire (good for golf) and Dumfries and Nithsdale are also within easy driving distance. Some attractions near Craigadam are summarised below. Naturalists will be able to take guided tours with Craigadam staff on the Estate, but there are the Reserves at Threave and Loch Ken Dee Marshes for a wide variety of birds of all kinds. The arboretum, glasshouses and walled garden at Threave Gardens are also well worth a visit. Wildlife can be observed at closer quarters at the Galloway Deer Museum and the Wildlife Park, Kirkcudbright.

Historians of all ages and interests will find plenty to interest them. Threave Castle on its island, the solemn peace of Dundrennan and Sweetheart Abbeys, the grim strength of Cardoness Castle and Orchardton Tower, offer a lot to look at, in some of the finest countryside of the Borders.

Artists have an excellent choice of landscapes, ranging from mountains to beaches, and can visit the still-thriving artists' colony at Kirkcudbright. There is also a thriving group of craft workers in the area; clogs, glassware, pottery, metalwork, hornwork, are made by local workshops.

Golf is a popular pastime in Scotland. There are courses of various types and grades at New Galloway, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright (two), Colvend, Kippford and Dumfries (two), - all within sixteen miles. How To Find Us :

Finding Craigadam... :

Craigadam is in Dumfries and Galloway in the South West of Scotland. From Dumfries follow the A75 towards Castle Douglas. At the village of Crocketford, turn right on the A712. Craigadam is situated exactly two miles from the village on the right hand side and is well signed.

Dumfries is the nearest railway station; Craigadam is about a hundred miles from both Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports. Visitors can be collected from the station or airport if required, although many prefer to drive to Craigadam.

Prices & Booking :

Self-Catering at Cragadam is at a flat rate of £ 450 per week for the use of the cottage.
Dinner is a further £ 15 per person per night, and the cooking is of a very high standard.

Packed Lunches can be provided each day for an extra fee.
