Shooting And Fishing :We have now been organising sporting breaks now since 1988, specialising in smaller groups on an informal and friendly basis. Bird Shooting ...Our shooting is based in Dumfries and Galloway and we have built good relationships with local estates as well as obtaining some excellent ground on which we keeper ourselves, extending to some 20,000 acres of lowland countryside comprising of several estates and farm shoots. Our shooting takes place in natural oak woodlands; game crops and conifer plantations, bracken bankings and grassy moors and we now have 12 flight ponds to finish off a good day with a duck flight. Bag men need not contact us at the Clachan Inn, as we pride ourselves in producing smaller informal days with good company as well as good sport. We cater for those who appreciate the traditions of shooting and can offer you beautiful countryside in which to enjoy it. Our shooting ranges from Rough days, 50, 75 bird mini days 100 & 150 bird days. The option of goose and duck flights is available weather permitting. Days start with the famous Clachan Inn breakfast and generally we start shooting by 10am, lunches vary from pack lunches to Castle kitchens depending on venue. We can provide transport in our 12 seater County Land Rover and 90 HardTop with a dog trailer. This will ensure that you can leave your vehicle in a reasonable state for your journey home. Clay Pigeon shooting is available and is arranged according to group size. Trout, Pike and Sea Fishing ...We have several of our own private lochs stocked with rainbows from 1lb to 5lbs as well as a wild Brown Trout loch. Access is reasonable to all. Locally there are many such lochs for you to enjoy as well as the Famous Loch Ken for coarse fishing. We are within easy reach of some excellent rivers such as the Cree, Bladnoch and the river Nith, for anyone pursuing Salmon or Sea Trout. Boats are available as well as the professional Ghillie Owen Figgis for anyone needing a helping hand or some inside information, particularly with the pike fishing ! Deer Stalking and Hunting ...There are many opportunities for Deer stalking and hunting in our area and we would be happy to assist with any enquiries. Due to the gun security provided, The Clachan Inn has become a recognised first choice for deerstalkers visiting this area. Off Road Driving ...4x4 vehicles can be great entertainment, driven safely. We have access to instructors and vehicles that will help you learn or refine your skills in this challenging activity. Booking your Sporting Break ...We arrange packages to suit your needs. It may be one gun for a week's mixture of sport from pike fishing to snipe shooting, up to full teams for a week's pheasant shooting and duck flights.
