Moffat has an excellent range of cafes, giftshops, and grocery shops, many in sight of the Moffat Ram in the High Street square. The town has a good 18-hole golf course, a park with a boating lake, a putting green and swings for children. There are two other parks in Moffat, one of which may be used for football matches.

The Beechgrove Sports Barn near the Moffat Academy offers a variety of indoor sports and a fitness gym, with tennis courts nearby.

Horseriding and pony trekking are available at the Lone Pine Stables, two miles away in Beattock. The nearest swimming pools are in Dumfries.
